2020 New Organization

After the 2019 Walk, we held exit meetings to discuss how the event went, what could’ve been better, and plans for the future. There was one central point that kept coming to the surface from all of our volunteers. We all felt similarly that we wanted more say about where the money raised was going to be allocated, and could that allocation be kept in our area.

Through numerous discussions and meetings, our committee decided we would establish a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization fully dedicated to providing assistance to residents in the Mon Valley area. On June 9, 2020, we received the good news that our 501(c)(3) status was approved from the federal government.  Mon Valley Paws was up and running.  Now, there was only one obstacle in the way of beginning to raise money for MVP: COVID-19.

Along with the rest of the world, our committee had to take a pause in our every day lives and the events we would have held this year. This momentary pause in event planning gave our committee time to work on background issues,  by-laws, a Facebook page, a website, and many other action items to get this non-profit fully established.

After this 2020 year break from fundraising events, we had time to plan for many things to look forward to in 2021. We plan on resuming our annual canine walk in the Fall of 2021.  Along with this activity, we would like to hold a Biscuit Bingo and a Trunk or Treat for our pets.  Other possible future events include food truck festivals, live music events, and other fun-filled, canine friendly events. To keep up with future events, please follow us on our Facebook page, Mon Valley Paws, and subscribe to our blog: https://monvalleypaws.wordpress.com/blog/.
