Kim Potts & Pets
My fur babies and I are dressed as players of the Squid Game. I am the Front Woman; my cats and rabbits are the workers. Mittens is cat 001. She was mine and my husband’s first pet, and first kitty ever. We got her as a kitten in the end of June 2004. She was a Tortoiseshell. It took a while trying to find a name for her. Mittens was the one we came up with and we kept it. Sadly, she got cancer and passed away January 22, 2019, a few months shy of her 14th birthday. (RIP) Her diamond is darkened because whenever a player is eliminated it changes color. Player 002 is Baby. I call her my rebound kitty because my hubby and I found her at Petco (through Green County Humane Society) four days after Mittens passing. We brought her home February third, 2019. She was about a year old. We called her Baby at first and decided after a few days to keep the name. She is a black and white Domestic Shorthair. Sissy is player 003. My hubby and sons found her also at Petco through Green County Humane Society. She is about a year old and arrived home on February 21, 2019. We named her Sissy since she was going to be a sister to Baby. She is a Tortoiseshell and looks like Mittens from behind. Player 004 is my sweet Cotton. I got her as a kitten on June 17, 2019. I got her from one of my employees at the time. Her dad’s friend breeds Bangles, and he accidentally got a mixed breed. He didn’t want to keep the mixed breed kittens, so I took one. She was the cutest one. She is a Bangle mix and she looked like a little cotton ball when she was a baby. I thought Cotton was a perfect name for her, plus it’s unique. She is 4 and a half years old now. Players 006 and 007 are brothers. Ghost and Sylar! Ghost is white with some tan. He is a Domestic Longhair and Sylar is gray and white Domestic Shorthair. We saw Ghost at Petco last Summer. He shared the same name as my one of my sons at the time. We knew then that we had to get him. We picked him up from Green County Humane Society on August 22, 2022. I spoke to a lady earlier that day and she told me that he has a brother who is very scared. They didn’t believe that anyone would ever adopt him. They said that I could take both for the price of one. So of course, I brought him home on the same day. Ghost has stage 3 gum disease, and he had to get most of his teeth removed. We named him Ghost because he looks like a little ghost in the dark. They think he is about 6 to 10 years old because of his teeth being so bad. Sylar was extremely scared when he first came home. He hid in the crawl space for a few days before I could get him out. Now he is the opposite. He loves having a good family and he is always out and about. He is maybe about 2 or 3 years old. Those are all the cats. Next are the rabbits. Cupcake is my little boy rabbit. He is a black Lionhead born on March 18, 2021. I got him from one of my employees. I brought him home on April 17, 2021, a week and a day before my 35th birthday and that’s why his name is Cupcake. He is 2 and a half years old! He is the triangle worker in the game since he was the first bunny. The triangle worker is first in charge. Then there is Winter, AKA Doozer, she is the square worker since they are second in command. She is a gray and white Lionhead mixed. I got her September 8, 2022, from a friend who was allergic to her. She was very sorrowful to give her up, but realizes she is a happy bunny with two roommates. My one son liked the name Winter and he really wanted to rename her. She’s made my little boy so happy. She is about 6 years old now. And finally…. Shamrock. She is the circle player since she is the last bunny, they don’t really have much authority! She is a white Holland Lop born on March 17, 2022, St. Patrick’s Day. Hence the name, Shamrock. I brought her home this past Father’s Day, June 18, 2023! She is 7 months old now. All three bunnies get along comfortably. Every holiday I dress my pets in costumes and take pictures. Those are all my little fur babies! We love all our pets and enjoy the fun and excitement they give us.
