Stormy (AKA Biscuit)
Owners: Jason Russo and Kayla Allen-Russo

My husband and I were in Illinois attending a benefit for Mon Valley Pro Wrestling. We own the business, and we were doing the event for one of our friends. One day while driving during a rainstorm, we found Stormy on the side of the road. The weather was miserable. We barely missed hitting her. Her hair was so long, It made her look like a dirty trash bag on the road in the middle of the bad storm (hence her name). No one was making any claim to her during our visit, so she became a member of the family. One day we were in the truck and my husband got out to get something and with the windows rolled down she jumped out to go after him. She was not injured, but from that day forward they were inseparable.
After we arrived home, we gave her a bath and cut off all the mat hair. We discovered she was not a black wire-haired dog; she was a perfect-colored Yorkie.
We already have three dogs and taking on a fourth medical bills was going to be tough, but we managed. We were saving to have her spayed when we noticed multiple lumps on her underside. We took her to the vet who diagnosed the lumps as possibly being cancerous. They needed to be removed as soon as possible. In a few days her lumps on her stomach were so large one of them burst. It was so frightening to be able to see her insides! A go-fund-me account was set up on the web for her surgery for a month, but no one donated. Our stress level was high! How can we proceed to have the surgery? A week before the scheduled surgery date, a friend told us about Mon Valley Paws helping local animals in need. I decided to give it a chance. We received $500.00 towards the $1000.00+ surgery. It was a big relief to find an organization that cared about local pets in need.
She is doing well now, and nothing is returning. She is the nicest Yorkie I have ever seen. She loves everyone and enjoys being held by all.
My experience with Mon Valley Paws was awesome. I was worried she was not going to be able to have the surgery. Would our application be denied? It was difficult seeing Stormy miserable and uncomfortable. When the email arrived stating we were approved for partial help, I broke down in tears.
I thank Mon Valley Paws so much for helping our little girl. All our pets mean the world to us. I am hopeful that the early surgery helped extend Stormy’s life with no more worries of cancer.
We have supported and attended Mon Valley Paws events, even before it changed its name to Mon Valley Paws. We will continue to do so, so other local pets can get the help their loving hearts deserve.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MON VALLEY PAWS!!!
