Albany and Randy Marino
Albany belongs to the President and head honcho of Mon Valley Paws, Randy Marino. He is the driving force behind the organization and if a title can be bestowed upon Albany, it would be the First Dog of Mon Valley Paws. She is a 5-year-old mixed bred rescue from West Virginia. Cathy and Kelly Taylor were attending a pet adoption event and knew Randy was considering adopting a dog. They took her picture and sent it to him, and the journey began. Off to Fairmont West Virginia. He went to see her and to gather background information. She was the runt of the litter of seven, having six brothers. Albany and her brothers were not surrendered for mistreatment, since the family had seven other dogs. They were unable to care for that number of pets and chose to surrender them for adoption. During the interview process, Randy was drawn to the female and was considering adopting her. As the interview progressed and the Adoption Coordinator continued with her history, he discovered her surrender date was February 27, 2018. Randy could not pass on Albany since his birthday was February 27th. What a coincidence! Their futures were destined.
Albany lives a great life in Monessen, surrounded by her friends and extended families, going to Cedar Creek Park, City Park, and joining friends for playdates. In addition to her having fun, she also works as a Therapy Dog having received her certification from the Animal Friends-Therapets program in June 2023. Her work visits include the SPHS facility, Washington County MHA facility, Hallsworth House, and Care Center. In addition to Albany, another pet was the inspiration and motivation of Randy to create and assist in the workings of Mon Valley Paws. His name was Capone, a beautiful chocolate Lab whose life was cut short due to cancer. He was a great, loving pet who lived life to the fullest. Despite receiving chemo, they continued to spend numerous weekends in the mountains. Randy personally wants to thank all the Mon Valley Paws volunteers and people who support the MVPaws mission. You keep his memory of Capone alive, and he is very appreciative!
