Pet Spotlight of the Month – September

Jeff Toth and K9 Mitch

“K9 Mitch was to have participated in the Mon Valley Paws in the Park & Vendor Show, but unfortunately Mitch has been struck down with an ailment of unknown causes. He has been scheduled for a battery of tests and when something definite is diagnosed, his prognosis will be posted of his recovery. Paws up and well wishes go out to Mitch.

K9 Mitch is a 4-year-old male Belgian Malinois that weighs 76lbs. Born on September 20, 2020, in Holland Northwestern Europe. K9 Mitch went through a series of skills in Holland and then was transported to United States to Warren Ohio with a K9 breeder and seller. K9 Mitch then went through another series of tests and skills where he then passed and would be eligible to be a K9. On August 24, 2021, Monongahela Police Chief Harris and I went to Warren Ohio to Tri-State K9 Services where we would select K9 Mitch to be a K9 for the City of Monongahela. On November 18th, 2021, I was allowed to bring K9 Mitch home with me where he stayed for a week with me and would interact with me and my family for bonding time. K9 Mitch and I then began K9 training in November where we completed 6 weeks Monday through Friday of K9 training. We graduated K9 training on December 16, 2021. K9 Mich is trained and certified in Narcotics, Tracking, and Patrol. K9 Mitch loves having a Kong or any type of ball to play with. Our most recent activity was to compete in a K9 completion at Slippery Rock where we finished first in the Narcotic Odor Searched division.”
