Monessen City Park
It all began on a Saturday morning on the Monessen City Park Walking Track. Registration prepared for the multitude of pets and their owners to partake in a day of fun and educational activities. Vendors set up their merchandise and food trucks completed their menus in anticipation of their consumers. The DJ tent housed the harmonious duo Brother Jeep and Bullpen Dennis who managed the flow of tunes. Announcements were made throughout the day by Patty and Mara.

As you progressed down the track, numerous auction baskets were on display, a variety of Mon Valley T-shirts were exhibited, the memory of passed loved pets were viewed, and a Kid’s Zone featured face painting and a caricature artist. Vendors galore lined the field. For the adventurous person, Derek Reeves hosted a yoga session. Melanie Love was available to demonstrate the benefits of pet massage. Photo opportunities were offered at the Smooch Your Pooch display and Joseph’s Nursery Fall presentation.

The Pup Arena attracted many dogs and owners hoping to be selected as the best in their category in the pet contest. The judges, Patrick, Lisa and Melanie, expressed their difficulty in selecting the winners and wished all could win. Melanie Love addressed the crowd regarding pet massage, and a K9 demonstration was performed by Officers Salzman and K9 Sammi. MaryKay Glunt concluded the Pup Arena show with the blessing of pets.

The Shelter and Rescue Village housed our partnered associates, As They Come Rescue, Pet Adoption League and Southwest PA Pugs with Special Needs. Pet Supplies Plus was on hand to distribute samples and Groomer Nina provided nail trims and ear cleansing. Also on hand was the Lock 4 Search and Rescue Team. The Cool Zone donated by Matt’s Ice offered refreshing water pools and ice for our furry friends.

The event concluded with the announcement of the basket auctions and 50-50 winners. Many thanks are offered to the Monessen Police Department, EMS Services, Fire Department #1, Kristen’s Beauty Salon, Fetch, Blaze and Sparky Mascots, Christie Zizis & Linzi Troilo for photos, and many more who helped to make this another successful Mon Valley Paws affair!
