Losing a pet who is a beloved member of your family and brought so much joy to your life is one of the hardest things that you will have to go through during your life.
Mon Valley Paws (After raising money for the Puppy Up Foundation for a couple years) was founded by Randy Marino with the help of his family, friends and former co-workers to honor the memory of his dog Capone who passed from cancer at a young age.
Over the past several years Randy has spent countless hours promoting and growing Mon Valley Paws thus expanding the impact on the community.
As you may or may not know, Mon Valley Paws helps our partnered rescues and shelters which are selected every 2 years with monetary grants, food, supplies and other items. Mon Valley Paws also has various veterinary grant programs to help lower income individuals or rescues help pay for the care of sick and injured animals.
Personally, each time I lost a dog who was part of my family, I said it was something that I never wanted to experience again, but knew I would have to since I still had other dogs. And each time I was back at the shelter adopting another dog within a couple weeks. While the new dog can never replace the loss, they can expand your heart in other ways. And it is a comfort knowing you are giving another animal a chance to have a better life.
So if you have lost a pet, know someone who has lost a pet or just want to help Mon Valley Paws help other animals in the community, Please join us on July 12th for our 1st annual Pet Memorial Mile. This event is intended to honor the memory of our departed pets while raising money to help other pets.
